Believe or not, it has only been a couple of years since the media were making comparisons between Shakira and Britney Spears.
Shakira didn't like it very much. I made a post about it at the time. Shakira chose to take not exactly the high road with her response, but she didn't get too personal either. She criticized Britney's taste in men. Britney probably has to agree at this point. Shakira's engagement has lasted a lot longer than Britney's marriage.
I am actually quite skeptical about the accuracy of the quote in my original source, Ireland On-Line. Whether she said what she was reported to have said or not, I think she probably never gets mistaken for Britney Spears now.
