World Music Sampler #6

This is a Throat Singer from the Altai Republic. Since I don't know much about his people or his music, I am going to vent about the use of the word Eskimo. There was a conference held decades ago in the Acrtic during which people from many different countries declared that they wished to be referred to as Inuit. This is kind of like African Americans saying that they do not want to be Negroes anymore. The word Eskimo is still pretty much official in Alaska and it is used with impunity around the World. The discrepancy highlights how social change is really about responding to pressure, not doing what is right.
